Prerequisites for Graduate Studies in Neurosurgery |
Medical degrees and/or residency programs in neurosurgery are offered at almost all medical schools in Canada. Standards for Canadian applicants are usually more relaxed compared to international applicants. Admission to the MD program is generally contingent on getting a favorable score on the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test), ranging from 24 to 30 overall. A grade of A- is also required in the last 2 years of a previous program. Students currently taking an undergraduate degree in any discipline are usually eligible for admission to the MD program; in some cases full completion of the previous degree is mandatory.
Generally, students who are in their final year of medical training are automatically eligible for residency training.
