Prerequisites for Graduate Studies in Materials Chemistry |
Admission to a graduate-level program in materials chemistry requires a previous degree in a related discipline (eg. chemical engineering, chemistry) with a minimum B+ average (in some cases this must be an honors degree). Some schools also require some form of advanced experience in a materials chemistry environment (eg. co-op, directed studies, industry experience, etc).
Admission to a PhD program can either be directly from an undergraduate degree (with an excellent academic average, and an aptitude for research) or after acquiring a relevant Master's-level degree.
As all graduate programs require a supervisor, most schools require this person to be approved prior to final admission.
