Depending on the degree, accreditation as a landscape architect may be pursued after successful completion of either a bachelor’s or a master’s degree; students should investigate the requirements of their provincial board, as standards vary from province to province. Graduates are employed in forestry, parks and recreation, community development, engineering departments, with building contractors and at all levels of government as planners, heritage conservationists, designers and computer visualization specialists. Some graduates go into business for themselves as consultants and owners of landscaping companies. Others may choose to go on to postgraduate work in a related area such as community development or natural resource management. The Canadian Society of Landscape Architects is the premier professional organization for landscape architects in Canada: http://www.csla.ca/
