Human ecology graduates work in a wide variety of settings including hospitals, personal care homes, social and community agencies, food processing, government, manufacturing industries and research laboratories. Depending on their area of specialization, they may pursue careers as youth workers, family financial counselors, nutritionists/dieticians, pattern makers, career counselors, fabric conservators, shelter workers, and many other jobs related to the enhancement of human potential. Some go on to postgraduate study in human ecology or in areas such as education, community development, immigration studies, fashion design, public administration, social work or business. Others may wish to seek professional certification as a Home Economist/Human Ecologist.
