To be admitted to a graduate program in environmental geography, students must have completed an undergraduate degree in a related field (eg. geography, environmental geography) with at least a B+ average. Practical experience in environmental geography, such as that found in co-op or directed studies, is considered an asset.
To be admitted to a PhD program in environmental geography, students must have a Master's-level degree. Some programs allow direct transfer from an undergraduate degree to a PhD program, provided the student has very high academic marks (A-) and an aptitude for research. Other schools may allow a transfer from the Master's program to the PhD program after 1 year.
