Since computers are found in nearly every aspect of industry and government today, the employment opportunities are extremely varied and will continue to grow for the foreseeable future. Some of the many applications include forensic science, technical writing, banking, security systems development, medical applications such as bioinformatics and tomography, computer aided design (CAD), business equipment, game design, and GIS systems. Computer science graduates may also pursue further study in areas such as robotics and artificial intelligence, computer or electronic engineering, education, business and applied mathematics, to name only a few. The Canadian Information Processing Society (http://www.cips.ca/) is Canada’s association of IT professionals. Prospective students may also wish to investigate other organizations such as ACM (The Association for Computing Machinery, http://www.acm.org/) and IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, http://www.ieee.org/).
