Prerequisites for Graduate Studies in Biophysics |
Admission to a graduate-level program in biophysics or medical physics requires a previous degree in a related discipline (biology, physics, or biophysics) with a minimum B+ average (in some cases this must be an honors degree). Some schools also require some form of advanced laboratory experience in a related research environment (eg. directed studies, employment as a laboratory technician, etc.). Admission to a PhD program requires completion of a Master's-level degree. Some schools allow direct entry from an undergraduate degree (for exceptional students), while others allow a transfer from the MSc program to a PhD after the first year.
Applicants who hold international degrees and wish admission to a graduate-level degree must supply a GRE (graduate record exam) with a suitable score (usually at least 75%).
