Prerequisites for Graduate Studies in Astrophysics |
An undergraduate honors degree in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics, with a B+ average, is required for admission to a Master's level program. Practical experience in an astrophysics environment is an asset, such as that gained through co-op, directed studies, or industry work experience.
Admission to a PhD program in astrophysics requires a Master's level degree in astrophysics or a related field. In some cases students can transfer directly from an undergraduate degree to the PhD, provided they have an excellent average (A-) and an aptitude for research. For both Master's level and PhD programs, a supervisor must be chosen prior to final admission.
