A previous degree in a related discipline (eg. mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science) with a minimum B+ average is required for admission to a graduate-level program in actuarial science. Experience in an actuarial science environment (eg. directed studies, industry experience, etc.) is considered an asset.
Admission to a PhD program in actuarial science can either be directly from an undergraduate degree (in addition to already having extensive research experience and a high academic average) or after acquiring a relevant Master's-level degree.
As all graduate programs require a supervisor, most schools require this person to be approved prior to final admission.
