Western Kentucky University was established in 1906 as the Western Kentucky State Normal School. It offers 17 associate degree programs, 10 undergraduate certificate programs, about 74 academic majors and 80 academic minors. It can be completed in 4 to 5 semesters and credit can be transferred from other institutions but General Law and legal-specialty course credits will be accepted only from an ABA approved institution or one which has programs designed in compliance with the ABA curriculum. Students of the Paralegal program are well trained and educated to comprehend the role of a paralegal in the legal world as well as to understand and learn tasks such as running a legal office, preparing for cases, researching, writing, drafting important documents, interviewing clients, investigating and analyzing facts to comprehend their relevance to the current case they are working on etc. Paralegals are much in demand and are employed in various fields; they may seek employment in private/public law firms, title companies, insurance firms, risk management firms etc. They receive a well-rounded education to prepare them for their professional life after graduation.
