Burlington County College is situated in the city of Pemberton in New Jersey. Founded in 1966, this college first admitted students in 1969. The college has four campuses located in Pemberton, Mt. Laurel, Mt. Holly and Willingboro through which it offers a variety of university transfer degrees, associates degree programs, professional programs and technology certifications. The Paralegal or Legal Assistant program of Burlington County College is being offered for the past thirty years. This Associate of Applied Science degree is approved by the American Bar Association. Paralegals are qualified people who are retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity to perform delegated legal work. They do not practice law. The program needs students to complete at least twelve legal, two business and seven general education courses for a degree. The legal specialty courses are specially scheduled for working professionals while other courses are available during the day, evening and weekend classes as well as through distance learning. The program trains students to perform paralegal functions such as communicating with clients, drafting legal documents, performing research and case management. Burlington County College has a Placement Office that helps students in finding suitable internships and employment after graduation.
