Students have until September 16th, the University's add or drop course deadline, to be admitted to Western. "The whole continent has been affected by this terrible disaster. We regret the suffering that is being endured by so many and, although the University's entering class is essentially full, we will do what we can to help," says Roma Harris, Western's Vice-Provost and Registrar. "Where possible, we will open our programs to those who have been displaced by Katrina, so that they can begin or continue their post-secondary studies." Western will work with qualified students in an effort to expedite documentation required by those who are not citizens or permanent residents of Canada, and will also assist them in finding appropriate accommodations. Interested students should contact Brandi Borman, Team Leader - Admissions, at (519) 661-2111, ext. 87690. The American Association of Universities (AAU) is appealing to universities in North America to assist in meeting the needs of students displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
