"Our new logo will be our calling card as the Schulich School of Music of McGill University continues its advance among the world's top music schools," says Don McLean, Dean of the Schulich School of Music of McGill University. Katherine Begg, vice-president of graphic design at the Bleu Blanc Rouge agency, says three main references were incorporated into the new logo's design: The linear structure of the New Music Building, which evokes horizontal geological strata; The lines of the musical staff in the traditional notation system; A partial sound wave curve to mirror the initials of benefactor Seymour Schulich, who is donating $20 million to the Faculty of Music, which will now be called the Schulich School of Music of McGill University in recognition of his extraordinary philanthropic gesture."Our new logo marries our benefactor's initials with symbols of traditional musical performance and contemporary technology 'from staff to sine wave' that will forever convey the unique character and historical evolution of the Schulich School of Music of McGill University," says Don McLean.
