Dalhousie, the University of King's College, the United Way of Halifax Region, the Spring Garden Road and Area Business Association are sponsoring the Litter Challenge of Saturday, September 17th. Students from residences at Dalhousie and King's will spend the morning picking up litter and recyclables on streets from South to Jubilee and Morris to Fenwick. Another group of students will be cleaning up Spring Garden Road and area. One of the objectives of the Litter Challenge is to build community spirit among new residence students while making Halifax a more attractive and cleaner place. The students will return to campus and hold two barbecues. Neighbours have been invited to two locations – one on Sexton Campus in downtown Halifax and one at the upper campus to share a meal of hamburgers, hotdogs and cookies. The groups will be picking up litter along Spring Garden Road and South St. at 9:30 AM and moving around the respective neighbourhoods following that.
