The 2005 StFX Environmental Research Forum will be held Oct. 6 from 2- 6 pm in the main lounge and MacKay Room in the Bloomfield Building. This casual research event is designed to provide a common platform for discussion among StFX undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, outside researchers and members of other universities who are active in research related to environmental science/policy issues. This will also be a chance for outside researchers, students and faculty from numerous departments to network. With support from many public and academic organizations, StFX researchers and students will be able to establish a good awareness of local research initiatives, while participating outside researchers will have the opportunity to see what facilities StFX can offer. The keynote speaker will be John Smol, the 2004 recipient of the Herzberg Medal (NSERC's most prestigious research award). Smol is a biology professor with Queen's University and will address the issues of science and policy.
