Co-ordinated by the Department of Career Development and Experiential Learning, the fair will bring together students, alumni and 66 local, national and international organizations. Exhibitor attendance has increased by 29 per cent, demonstrating the importance and reception that this annual event receives. "That growth is encouraging," said Robert Shea, director of the Department of Career Development and Experiential Learning. "Recruitment of university students is increasing and the partnership between Memorial and industry has witnessed a significant relationship growth." Mr. Shea indicated that employers will not only be attending the fair but have taken advantage of the option of tailoring faculty-specific information sessions. "They're participating in events such as our Bookbags to Briefcase sessions and using our video conferencing technology to connect students to employers," he said. "Some employers will also be co-ordinating interviews while in St. John's." The goal of Career Fair 2005 is to expose students and alumni to a variety of career opportunities, and connect them with organizations that reflect that diversity. In addition, it demonstrates to visiting exhibitors and potential employers the quality of students, alumni and programs at Memorial University. Members of the media are welcome to attend Career Fair 2005. - 30 - For further information, please contact Ivan Muzychka, manager, News Service, Memorial University, 737-8665, cell 687-9433or ivanm@mun.ca.
