Sept. 7 SACKVILLE, NB — Motion Ensemble, New Brunswick’s professional new music group will present a concert entitled, “Time: what a concept!” on Wednesday, September 7 at Struts Gallery, 7 Lorne Street, Sackville. Show time is 8 p.m. Admission is pay-what-you-can. The program will feature evocative works which explore ideas of time, space, and memory. Of particular note is a multi-disciplinary work written for the ensemble entitled “Mnemosyne.” This work includes music by Los Angeles composer Veronika Krausas, projected text by Toronto author André Alexis, and projected images by Jolicure’s Thaddeus Holownia, head of the fine arts department at Mount Allison University. Other music on the program is by a diverse array of composers: alcides lanza, Gerhard Staebler, and New Brunswick composers Richard Kidd and André Cormier. Motion Ensemble was founded in 1998 by Fredericton bass player Andrew Miller; also in the group is Montreal percussionist D’Arcy P. Gray, Mount Allison voice professor Helen Pridmore, Fredericton’s Richard Hornsby on clarinets, and Montreal violinist Nadia Francavilla.
