In this phase of the project, Brook McIlroy Planning + Urban Design, the consulting firm hired to prepare the plan, is hosting the following events to gather input from the University community: To Actively Participate: The Visioning Workshop The purpose of the Visioning Workshop is to allow members of the campus community to don their thinking caps and help shape the future of our campus. The event will begin with a presentation to show the analysis and initial concepts prepared by Brook McIlroy. It will be followed by group discussions in which participants will be asked to provide extensive input on how the Saint Mary's campus should evolve. Where: Sobey Building, 4th Floor When: Thursday, September 22, 2005 12:00 Noon until 3:30 p.m. RSVP: Andrea Smith, 420.5410, andrea.smith@smu.ca Areas of Discussion will include: - Where should new buildings be located and how should they relate to campus open spaces? What should they look like? - How can open spaces be improved to provide a safe, functional and attractive pedestrian network? - How can current parking issues be addressed and access to the campus improved? To Drop By: Two Open Houses Two Open Houses will be held to allow members of the University community to keep up-to-date on the Campus Master Plan process without actively participating in the more extensive Visioning Workshop. A short presentation will be made by the consultants at the beginning of the Open House, but the rest of the event will be dedicated to informal discussions. Boards will be displayed in the room to present the analysis and preliminary concepts prepared by the consultants. Questionnaires will also be distributed so that attendees may provide written comments to the consultant team.
