They recently received scholarships valued at $1,200 each thanks to a day on the links. Newfoundlandand Labradorrecipients were: Gregory Jenkins of Corner Brook, Jennifer Goulding of Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Joseph Fitzgerald of the Goulds. Erin Schwenger of Bathurst, New Brunswick,also received a scholarship, as did Yu Shan Hung of Taiwan. More than 150 golfers on some 30 teams teed off in the 8th annual Memorial University of Newfoundland Scholarship Golf Tournament on Sept. 13 at The Wilds at Salmonier, a popular golf course located just outside of St. John’s. Over the years, the tournament has helped raise more than $140,000 in an endowment and awarded more than $26,000 in scholarships. Scotiabank Commercial Banking is the corporate partner of the event.
