Nipissing University is hosting a Math talk Friday Sept 16 at 12:30 p.m. in Room A223. Dr. Guentcho Skordev from the Department of Mathematics and Informatics at the University of Bremen, Germany, is the guest speaker. Dr. Skordev will speak about fractals, providing a short historical overview of the main constructions. The abstract is as follows: Nowhere differentiable functions, Dimension increasing maps (Peano Curves), Attractors of dynamical systems (iterated function systems, Julia sets, Lorenz Attractors .... etc ). The talk will be accessible to anyone with background in Calculus and Infinite Series. Admission is free of charge and all are welcome. Tea, coffee and cookies will be provided.
