October 2, 2005 Source: Laurentian University of Sudbury: http://laurentian.ca/?file=newsrelease/2005/oct/oct2_lufa_e.php Laurentian University focused on reaching a settlement with LUFASeptember On September 29, Laurentian University presented a reasonable and responsible offer to the Laurentian University Faculty Association (LUFA). The terms of this offer exceeded those of settlements reached at other Ontario universities. The University is disappointed that LUFA's negotiating team considers its latest offer inadequate, and that LUFA has decided to proceed with the announcement of a strike date. Ensuring a quality education for students is the University's main concern and it is focused on reaching a settlement. Laurentian is committed to continued negotiations over the course of the next week - as agreed upon by both parties - leading up to the third scheduled meeting with mediator Martin Teplitsky, Friday, October 7.
