In the category that measures graduates’ career progress since taking the program, Alberta/Haskayne finished first among Canadian business schools and 21st worldwide. The Alberta/Haskayne EMBA, jointly offered by the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta, achieved an overall ranking of 65 on the list of the top 75 programs. The program ranked third overall among Canadian business schools. "The rankings recognize the outstanding quality of the Alberta/Haskayne experience," says Dr. Vernon Jones, academic director of the program and vice dean of the Haskayne School of Business. "Our graduates’ excellent career track records show that employers also recognize the value of the program." The career progress ranking certainly rings true for EMBA alumna Deb Gordon, Chief Operating Officer of the University of Alberta Hospital and Stollery Children's Hospital. She has been promoted three times since graduating in 2000, and is now responsible for a staff of more than 5,000 and an operating budget of $385 million. "I’ve been fortunate to have been given the opportunity to practice the skills acquired through my EMBA in roles of increased responsibility," says Gordon. "The relationships I developed while completing my EMBA with leaders from Alberta’s business community and government sectors have also proved invaluable. At any point in time, I can pick up the phone and bounce ideas off them." "Our unique cooperation between the province’s two top business schools allows us to place Alberta as a leader in Canada in executive education, and to be internationally recognized as a destination for a world-class MBA education," says Dr. Michael Percy, dean of the University of Alberta School of Business. The Alberta/Haskayne EMBA is an intensive 20-month program offered to 70 students each year. Features of the program that make it different from many others include: an executive speakers series providing students with direct access to some of Canada’s prominent business leaders; an international study trip that gives students exposure to Canadian companies operating globally (last year’s class went to South America); and an executive coach available to all EMBA students. To arrange an interview with a program representative or graduate contact: Joanne Ramsay Managing Director, Alberta/Haskayne Executive MBA Haskayne School of Business 403.220.7175 joanne.ramsay@haskayne-emba.com Monica Wegner Manager, Communications University of Alberta School of Business 780.492.7996 monica.wegner@ualberta.ca
