TAMAS DOBOZY TO READ AT UNB

October 21, 2005
UNB News Release: D401
Tina English, Student Recruitment and Integrated Marketing (506) 453-4793

Tamas Dobozy will read from his latest collection of short stories entitled Last Notes and Other Stories. The reading will take place on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 8 p.m. in Memorial Hall, University of New Brunswick Fredericton. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Tamas Dobozy was born in Nanaimo, B.C. After receiving his PhD in English from the University of British Columbia, he taught at Memorial University in Newfoundland. His work has been published in journals throughout North America. Last Notes, published in 2005, is shot through with wit, profundity, a love of the absurd, and a wide-ranging imagination. His first collection of short fiction, When X Equals Marylou, was shortlisted for the Danuta Gleed Award. Quill & Quire magazine writes that "Tamas Dobozy is a breath of fresh air" and that Last Notes "is mesmerizing and powerful, with a subtlety that belies its significant strengths." Tamas Dobozy now teaches in the department of English and film studies at Wilfred Laurier University in Ontario.

The reading is sponsored by UNBF’s department of English and the Canada Council for the Arts.

For more information on the reading, contact Ross Leckie at 458-7395.
