Of that number, 13 are no longer ill. No StFX students or staff members have been admitted to hospital as result of the illness. The decision to cancel varsity athletics and close some facilities was made following an afternoon meeting between StFX administration and Nova Scotia Public Health Protection and Promotion officials. "This is a precautionary measure to prevent the illness from spreading," said Mark MacAulay, Director of Health and Counseling at St. Francis Xavier University. "Working in conjunction with public health officials, we will continue to evaluate the situation." Public events in the University's Oland Centre and Keating Millennium Centre will be cancelled until further notice. The Wellness Centre at the Keating Millennium Centre will also be closed until further notice. Further information for the public is available through StFX's Health Advisory line at 1-888-231-5333 or by visiting www.stfx.ca.
