The bi-annual conference will be held at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton’s Tilley Hall. It is sponsored by UNBF’s department of history and organized by graduate students. More than 40 graduates from 11 universities will present research results under numerous different topics. Some of those topics include Acadians and Loyalists: History and Commemoration; Race and Rights in North America; Women in 20th Century Canadian Culture; and Military History and Commemoration. "We are justly proud of the student conference which draws participants from across North America," said the chair of UNBF’s history department Gary Waite. "The conference is professionally organized and intimate in atmosphere, but it is internationally-recognized as an important venue for the dissemination of groundbreaking scholarship." This year’s keynote speaker is Richard Judd, a professor of history at the University of Maine and the editor of Maine History, the state’s historical journal. Dr. Judd’s lecture is entitled North American Environmental History: A Comparative Analysis of Canada and the United States. Dr. Judd’s address is open to the public and is scheduled for Oct. 21 at 3:30 p.m. in Room 102 of Tilley Hall.
