BACCHUS Canada, a division of the Student Life Education Company, just awarded the DRAFT (drink responsible and feel terrific) Team with the Campus of the Year Award, which is presented annually to a post-secondary institution that consistently provides a high quality of alcohol awareness programming throughout the duration of the academic year on a wide variety of issues. Saint Mary’s also took home this top award last year. In the last six years, the Saint Mary's DRAFT Team has also successfully won five national awards from BACCHUS Canada. Each year, 100 universities and colleges across Canada vie for top awards from the leading organization. "It's truly an honour to be recognized by BACCHUS Canada this many times in a row," says Alana Green, Executive Director of DRAFT. "The credit for winning this prestigious award and all our awards from BACCHUS Canada goes to the large number of student volunteers who work diligently all year to promote responsible drinking on our campus," she says. "We are extremely proud to win such a leading award, one where we are praised for our continuous efforts in educating students about responsible alcohol consumption. We will continue to remain focused on our commitment to providing quality programming in the area of alcohol education to the students of Saint Mary's," she adds. Formed in 1995, the DRAFT Team is comprised of student volunteers interested in promoting student well being through responsible alcohol use. The objective is to promote and encourage students to make responsible and educated choices around alcohol consumption. This is usually accomplished through a wide variety educational activities both on and off the campus. Saint Mary's University is known for its community outreach projects, both in Canada and around the world.
