Source: Brandon University http://www.brandonu.ca/news/article.asp?A_ID=1124 Science Seminar Series presents Dr. Stephen Pistorius on 75 years of Medical Physics in ManitobaOctober 12, 2006 BRANDON, MB - On Tuesday, October 17 from 12:40 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Brandon University Science Seminar series will present a talk by Dr. Stephen Pistorius, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manitoba titled 75 years of Medical Physics in Manitoba—Roles, Responsibilities and Rewards. Dr. Pistorius' talk will take place in room 3-42 of the Brodie Sciences Building and is free of charge. All are welcome! "My talk will illustrate the developments of Medical Physics, ranging from some crude (but still successful) methods in the early 1900's through to those techniques in place today that use multi-million dollar pieces of equipment," says Dr. Pistorius. "In doing so I will highlight the roles and responsibilities of the medical physicist, some of the research that is currently being carried out and will describe the route that one's academic career will have to take to enable one to reap the exciting rewards that are part of a Medical Physicist's daily life."
