"We could not be more pleased at the position occupied by colleges, universities, and students in this government's priorities," said Ted Hewitt, acting President. "By investing in research and in assuring student access to advanced degrees, the government has demonstrated its unequivocal commitment to the future prosperity of Ontario." "We are particularly gratified that the Premier has taken a leadership role with his fellow First Ministers in establishing a renewed commitment to post-secondary education as a national priority," said Hewitt. Western will continue to work with the government to ensure that the investments announced in last May's Provincial Budget go to the best possible use, that is to increase both student access and the quality of the student experience. - 30 - W.
