Developed collaboratively by theatre and film students, the multifaceted performance examines the roles men and women learn to play in kitchens past and present. In the Kitchen will be previewing on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. in the Robinson Memorial Theatre located in Chester New Hall 103. Under the supervision of Dr. Peter Cockett, student directors and actors have created an innovative piece interwoven with scenes, song, dance and multimedia that will challenge audience members to think about the roles that they play, and are expected to play in our society. This year's fall Major Production is funny, touching and especially thought-provoking. In addition to the Major Production, starting in January 2007, the popular Honours Performance Series (formerly known as the Directors' Series) will get underway with 4th year Theatre and Film students grabbing the helm and taking on the role of stage managers, writers, directors and producers bringing theatre performances to life. Evening performances will take place at 8 p.m. on Nov. 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24 and 25. Matinees will take the stage at 2 p.m. on Nov. 18, 19, 25 and 26. Tickets are $15 general admission and $10 for students. The Nov. 16 preview is only $5. Tickets are available at Togo Salmon Hall 414 and at Compass in the McMaster University Student Centre.
