Source: McMaster University http://dailynews.mcmaster.ca/story.cfm?id=4335 School of Graduate Studies hosts open houseNovember 6, 2006 McMaster's School of Graduate Studies is hosting two Graduate Studies Open Houses on Monday, Nov. 6 and Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the McMaster University Student Centre. These events will give prospective graduate students the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff and graduate students in their programs of interest. Monday, Nov. 6: Faculties of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences Wednesday, Nov. 8: Faculties of Engineering, Health Sciences and Science Graduate schools and programs that will be participating on both dates include the DeGroote School of Business (MBA and PhD Programs); School of Geography and Earth Sciences; and Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Programs, School of Rehabilitation Science. In September of this year, the provincial government announced $240 million in funding to increase the number of graduate students at Ontario universities. The funding will create 12,000 new graduate spaces by 2007-08 and another 2,000 by 2009-10. As one of the top 100 universities in the world, McMaster aims to increase its graduate enrolment to 20 per cent of its total student population.
