November 3, 2005 Source: University of New Brunswick - Saint John: http://www.unb.ca/news/view.cgi?id=899 CANADIAN AMBASSADOR TO GERMANY VISITING UNBF November 3, 2005 UNB Fredericton News Release: D497 Brad Janes, Public Relations Officer (506) 458-7969 The increasing investment, trade and cultural exchanges between Canada and Germany will be explored during an international-based lecture Monday, Nov. 7, at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. His Excellency Paul Dubois, Canada’s ambassador to Germany, will be the guest speaker at the public lecture sponsored by UNBF’s department of economics. Mr. Dubois will appear at 7 p.m. in Room 28 of Tilley Hall. His topic is Europe, Germany and Canada: Myth vs. Reality. Germany is an important European partner for Canada with shared values and approaches to global issues, increasing investment and trade, tourism, educational and cultural exchanges. There are more than 2.7-million Canadians of German origin which also helps continue to deepen ties between the two nations. Mr. Dubois was named Canada’s ambassador to Germany in 2004 and is based in Berlin. He has served abroad at Canadian embassies in Bangkok, Abidjan and Bonn, and from 1990 to 1994, he was Minister and Deputy Permanent Representative to the Office of the United Nations in Geneva. He was the assistant deputy minister to Europe until accepting the ambassador to Germany position.
