Living Skies Brass Quintet performanceNovember 22, 2006 Source: University of Regina http://www.uregina.ca/news/releases/2006/november/22(d).shtml The inaugural performance of the Living Skies Brass Quintet will take place Sun., Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. in the University Theatre, Riddell Centre, University of Regina. Members of the Living Skies Brass are familiar to Regina audiences and all members teach at the University of Regina. Miles Newman is the principal trumpet of the RSO; Brent Ghiglione (trumpet) is a well-known musician in the city, both in the classical/band field and in jazz; Richard Burdick is the principal horn of the RSO; Richard Raum is principal trombone of the RSO, and a popular "jazzer" in town; and John Griffiths is the principal tuba of the RSO and an active soloist. Living Skies Brass will perform a piece by the Romantic composer Victor Ewald, "Quintet #3"; a major and very popular work by Morley Calvert, "Suite from the Monteregian Hills"; the "Quintet for Brass" by Robert Sanders, Christmas music for brass and more. This promises to be a wonderful concert – don’t miss it! Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for students/seniors, and University of Regina students are admitted free with valid U of R ID.
