Recovered Igali returns homeNovember 21, 2006 Source: Simon Fraser University http://www.sfu.ca/mediapr/news_releases/archives/news11210601.htm Note: Igali will arrive in Vancouver on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 1:30 p.m. on Lufthansa flight 492 and will be available at the airport for media interviews. Daniel Igali is on his way back to Canada, after extending his latest visit to Nigeria to heel from knife wounds following a robbery attempt at his family’s home. The Olympic wrestling champion was struck in the neck by young thieves who broke into the home located in Yenogoa, about 90 minutes from the village of Eniwari, where his new school recently opened. Igali, whose injuries required several stitches, says he is healing well and hopes that his school will play a part in addressing issues related to troubled youths in Nigeria. He plans to lay low for a few days before following through with commitments in eastern Canada — and resuming efforts to complete his master’s degree in criminology at Simon Fraser University.
