'From Canada to Kandahar'November 21, 2006 Source: McGill University http://www.mcgill.ca/newsroom/news/?ItemID=22848 The McGill Human Rights Working Group and the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism will be presenting a discussion, "From Canada to Kandahar: Afghanistan pre-and post-9/11," with Afghan-Canadian journalist and filmmaker Nelofer Pazira, star of the film Kandahar. The plight of the Afghan people has been a central issue in the debate surrounding the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the subsequent war in their country. Ms. Pazira has actively worked to shed light on the troubles plaguing her native land, producing, co-directing and starring in various films and documentaries about the region. She will discuss her experiences among the Afghan people, as well as the effects and perceptions that have resulted from the international community's involvement in their country. Clips from the award-winning film Kandahar will also be screened.
