The University of Alberta's Master of Business Administration in Technology Commercialization is a 20-month, full-time program primarily designed for individuals aspiring to careers as managers in the 'front- and back-rooms of knowledge-based businesses.' The Program will expose students to a wide array of business concepts, theories, and skills while allowing them to major in Technology Commercialization via specialized courses which will advance student's 'knowledge of the technology commercialization system' and 'how it interacts with other business systems - bargaining and negotiation, and legal aspects.' To complete the Program students must partake in a major project course in which students, under the supervision of faculty, will apply what they have learned 'by developing technology commercialization plans for University spin-off companies or other startups.' Additionally, students will have the opportunity to do four months of co-operative education during the Summer that will enable them to gain real-world work experience in a 'public or private organization actively involved in the technology commercialization process.'
