The Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba offers a PhD program designed to prepare students for careers as researchers in the public and/or private sector and/or as educators at the university level. The Program will enable students to acquire both an inter-disciplinary perspective and approach to the examination of business-related issues, concepts, and theories while simultaneously providing them with the opportunity to major in 1 of 4 broadly defined areas of specialization including Finance, Management Science, Marketing, and Organizational Behaviour. The Program requires that students to undertake at least 2 years of full-time residency as well as complete course work, a research and teaching practicum, a comprehensive final examination, and a dissertation in their major and minor areas of study. Moreover, students will undertake research apprenticeships with faculty members during which students will both receive 'hands-on experience with the research process' and 'publish some conference papers and/or journal articles.'
