Saint Mary's University's Sobey School of Business offers the Ph.D. in Business Administration, a flexible yet rigorous program which may be completed 48 months or less and which is comprised of coursework, comprehensive examinations, and a dissertation. The primary aim of the Program is to graduate successful academic researchers for 'the public sector and private industry' by focussing education 'on the behavioural aspects of organizations and management,' in such areas as Human Resources, Industrial and Labour Relations, Management, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Development, and Organizational Theory. Although the Program may completed on a part-time basis, students must 'fulfill the equivalent of two semesters of full time residency' usually during spring and summer during which classes will be 'composed of intensive daily classes that run from the beginning of May to the end of June.' The University warns that past experiences demonstrate 'that it is not possible for students to maintain other commitments, e.g. contract work or teaching, during this time frame.'
