The University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business's Master of Business Administration (MBA) program may be structured as a course-based or thesis-based degree and may be completed in either 2 years on a full-time basis or 3 years on a part-time basis. The course-based MBA program is primarily designed for students who aspire to careers as managers in the public or private sector. Students who pursue a course-based degree may major in 1 of 4 areas, including Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Finance, Global Energy Management and Sustainable Development, and Marketing, or they may 'customize a specialization with the approval of the MBA office.' On the other hand, the thesis-based MBA format targets individuals who are interested in engaging in research and preparing themselves to pursue a doctorate degree; participants in the thesis-based MBA are not eligible to select an area of specialization. Students in either MBA format are afforded the opportunity to learn from 'seasoned and successful business leaders' via the School's Mentorship Program. Moreover, students may "internationalize" their respective educational experiences by partaking in a semester of study abroad or in the collaborative effort between the Haskayne School of Business and EGADE of Tec de Monterrey, Mexico which enables students from the former to spend their second year at the latter and vice versa.
