The Sobey School of Business of Saint Mary's University offers the Master of Business Administration (MBA), a 2-year, full-time program designed for individuals who aspire to advance their respective academic and career credentials thereby opening up further graduate-level study and/or employment opportunities. The Program will expose students to a wide array of business fundamentals, concepts, subject areas, and theories and provide them with the ability to concentrate their studies on 1 of 7 areas of student including Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, International Business, Management Consulting, Marketing, and Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Additionally, students will be required to both complete a 'supervised consulting project' to demonstrate their ability to put what they have learned into practice in a real-world work environment and 'participate in a variety of' non-credit 'events that link them to the business community' to further develop their 'managerial and decision-making skills.' Applicants who possess 'a previous business degree from a recognized university,' with high academic standing, who had taken courses for their undergraduate degree whose content overlaps by at least 80% with those of the first year of the MBA program, and who can demonstrate 'an in-depth understanding of a field,' are eligible for advanced standing which will reduce the requirements and time needed to complete the MBA. Interested students may also complete the pre-requisites for a Canadian Association of Management Consultants' (CAMC's) CMC designation while earning their respective MBAs.
