Offered jointly by the University of Alberta's School of Business and Faculty of Law, the combined Master of Business Administration/Master of Law (MBA/LLB) degree is a 4-year, full-time program designed to educate students in the knowledge and abilities necessary to improve their effectiveness as 'managers, policy makers, and legal advisors' by providing them 'with strong management skills and an in-depth specialization in law.' Although the exact structure of the Program will vary from student to student, usually 1 year will be spent in the MBA program, 2 years in the Law program, 'and a joint year combining courses from both areas.' Students will have the opportunity to do four months of co-operative education during the Summer which will enable them to not only gain real-world work experience but also fulfill 'part of their MBA course requirements' Graduates of the MBA/LLB program will be prepared for careers in the 'legal and business professions particularly in areas where the two disciplines coincide,' and alumni have acquired prominent positions in a variety of public and private organizations.
