The Schulich School of Business at York University offers the International Master of Business Administration (IMBA) degree, a 20-month program, including a 4-month work term, designed to expose students to the international or global aspects of management. As with the regular MBA program offered by the School, the Program will expose students to the broad, core fundamentals of business while enabling them to specialize in 1 or more of over 18 major areas including Accounting, Arts and Media, Business and Sustainability, Business Consulting, Economics, Entrepreneurial Studies, Finance, Financial Engineering, Financial Services, Health Industry Management, International Business, Marketing, Nonprofit Management Leadership, Operations Management and Information Systems, Organizational Behavior/Industrial Relations, Public Management, Real property Management, and Strategic Management. However, the IMBA goes beyond these disciplines as each student will be required to focus his/her studies on the business and economic environment and dynamics of both a major economic region and of a country within it; each student will select the region and the country within it from either Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, or South and Southeast Asia. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to develop their respective abilities 'to conduct business in' either a major business language, which will be chosen from 'French, German, Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish and English as a Second Language (for students from abroad)' and/or a regional language as approved by the University. As part of the Program's requirements students will partake in a field study in which 'students undertake a real-time strategic consulting project at a real world business or organization with international operations.' Moreover, students will be afforded the option to internationalize their respective educational experiences through participating in an international study option in which students can learn at 1 of over 40 post-secondary institutions with which York University if partnered in 29 countries.
