Brock University's Master of Accountancy is designed primarily for individuals who hold an honour's bachelor degree with an accounting concentration who want to advance their respective knowledge of 'accounting and related aspects of business.' Applicants who have not had 'sufficient concentration in accounting' may still be accepted into the program provided they meet specific criteria as determined by the Accounting and Finance Department, and which may include 'one or more qualifying term(s)' The Master of Accountancy program includes a set of core courses, which all students must take, complemented by specialized studies in either the General Stream, which involves independent study in an area chosen by the student in conjunction with a facility member, the Information Systems Specialty Stream, which includes both the study of various aspects of information systems and independent study in 'information systems with a faculty member,' or the Tax Specialty Stream, which allows the student advanced education in various areas of taxation. More generally, the Program emphasizes building the student's professional skills and abilities required for success in the accounting profession including the capabilities to analyze, communicate, think critically, understand ethical issues, and 'adapt and respond to a complex changing business environment.'
