University of Saskatchewan Law SchoolMooting and Clinical ProgramsThe College additionally offers many experiential learning opportunities through which students may develop and hone their practical skills, such as their respective advocacy, argumentative, and lawyering abilities, and deal directly with the dynamics of the legal world. Such opportunities are available primarily via mooting and clinical work. Mooting is a compulsory component for first year LL.B students. However, second year learners can participate in mooting competitions, most of which are worth 3 credits each, including the Jessup Moot in International Law, Laskin Memorial Moot, Gale Cup Moot, and Western Canada Moot Competition.
There is also a non-competitive Aboriginal Moot available, worth 3 credits, which is primarily designed as a method through which First Nations students may debate and discuss legal issues important to First Nations. The College provides opportunities for students to have clinical work experience as well. These options are primarily offered via student organizations like Pro Bono Students Canada and the Scales of Social Justice League (SOS Justice League).
