University of Manitoba Law SchoolMooting and Clinical ProgramsThe Faculty additionally offers many experiential learning opportunities through which students may develop and hone their practical skills, such as their respective advocacy, argumentative, and lawyering abilities, and deal directly with the dynamics of the legal world. Such opportunities are available primarily via mooting and clinical work. The advocacy/mooting program at the Faculty is unique in that it 'progressively builds upon skills learned in each year of law school.' On a competitive level, this Program has been very successful; for example, the Faculty's students have won 13 out of 31 Western Canada Moot Trial Competitions. Students who want practical education at a clinic are offered several opportunities including the Law Clinic, which is operated by Legal Aid Manitoba, the Small Business Law Clinic, and Pro Bono Students Canada. Furthermore, the Faculty's Asper Chair offers an internship that enables students 'to participate in international commercial dispute resolution competitions,' and the Manitoba Law Journal provides students with the option to attain experience as editors while earning course credit.
