Overview The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Lassonde School of Engineering, York University, is seeking two outstanding individuals to be appointed to a tenure- track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, to commence on July 1, 2014. While we welcome applications from individuals with research experience in the traditional areas of mechanical engineering such as thermofluids and solid mechanics, special attention will be given to individuals with research experience in the area of sustainable energy systems, dynamics and control of electro-mechanical systems, micro-systems (e.g. micro-fluidics, MEMS, and micro-sensors), advanced manufacturing and materials (e.g. additive manufacturing, multifunctional materials, etc.), as well as bio-systems (e.g. mechanics of bio-systems and medical devices). Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence, or promise of excellence, in teaching and scholarly research. Ideas and experience in innovative teaching will be an asset, while strong research track record for the selected rank is a must.

Experience and Qualifications The successful candidate(s) are required to teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and graduate levels, establish a viable, externally-funded research program, assist in the administrative tasks of the department and the university, and must be eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The successful candidate(s) shall also demonstrate commitment to the engineering profession by being licenced as a Professional Engineer, or by becoming licenced soon after appointment.
