Overview Mechanical Engineering The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Lassonde School of Engineering, York University, is seeking two outstanding candidates to be appointed to tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, to commence on July 1, 2015, subject to budgetary approval. While we welcome applications from individuals with research experience in the traditional and interdisciplinary areas of mechanical engineering, special attention will be given to individuals with research experience in the areas of fluid mechanics and heat transfer. We are seeking individuals who can integrate nicely with a young and vibrant department and willing to take scholarly initiatives that transcend the traditional boundaries of engineering and build on the existing strong foundations in business (Schulich Business School), law (Osgoode Law School) and liberal arts at York University. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence, or promise of excellence, in teaching and scholarly research. Ideas and experience in innovative teaching will be an asset, while strong research track record for the selected rank is required. The successful candidates are required to teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and graduate levels, establish a viable, externally-funded research program, build strong linkages with industry, assist in the administrative tasks of the department and the university, and must be eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The successful candidates shall also demonstrate commitment to the engineering profession by being licenced as a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario or by becoming licenced soon after appointment. The successful candidate must have earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely-related field.
