Overview We are seeking an outstanding individual for an alternate-stream (teaching-focused) tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will be teaching undergraduate courses and delivery of related projects and laboratories. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in activities related to the undergraduate program, such as serving on committees, leadership in pedagogy of learning, interactions with industry for the purpose of undergraduate education and projects, devising and implementing technology in teaching and learning for the undergraduate program, and engaging in administrative work, including the supervision of other persons engaged in teaching.

Experience and Qualifications The successful candidate must be able to provide documented evidence of excellence in teaching and demonstrate commitment to pedagogy with the potential for programmatic leadership. He or she must have a first degree (BASc, BEng or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. The candidate should be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers Ontario. The following are also preferable qualities in the successful candidate: an ability to interact with industry; a track record with undergraduate teaching; a track record with course and curriculum development; experience with undergraduate learning outcomes and graduate attributes; an interest in leading capstone design and other project-related courses; an understanding of, and willingness to explore, state-of-the-art trends in undergraduate teaching and learning (e.g., web-based distance learning, MOOCs, etc.). All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.
