Overview Position funded by Canada Summer Jobs for 10 weeks for Student up to 30 years of age who will be returning to post-secondary studies. Will be responsible to support Clients with disabilities achieve their vocational goals by training and modelling hands-on work skills and job assignment responsibilities in a co-packing manufacturing setting, monitoring to ensure work contracts are completed according to specification. To also assist the preparation of individual client support plans in a new format, educate clients in health & safety, and aid their community integration in cultural and recreation activities as time allows.

Responsibilities Train, support and supervise clients to complete job tasks and learn the responsibilities of different job assignments, based on their interst and skill levels Monitor and safeguard work floor health and safety and ensure equipment is operated only by clients fully trained to do so Assist the preparation of individual support plans in a new format, working together with counsellors Learn and support the program's intake activities and help prepare work readiness assessments for applicants as skills allow Learn and provide orientations for new clients and student groups, including health and safety orientations, and support their transition into the program Assist clients completre their annual confidential program survey and/or cultural competency survey and tabulate results Assist the planning and facilitation of client group activities and/or connect clients with external cultural and social recreation activities as time allows To work cohesively with staff, Operations Manager and Program Manager, and perform other similar tasks as assigned to support the program mission and operations.

Experience and Qualifications High school diploma and participation in a post-secondary social service type progran Good oral and written English communication skills A second language is desired to support our culturally diverse client group Ability to plan ahead and motivate others to handle assigned tasks Good problem solving and decision making skills Good computer skills (Word, Excel) and basic math Comfortable working with people with mental health needs and/or developmental disabilities Experience in a rehabilitation setting is an asset A clear vulnerable sector police reference check required
