Responsibilities

In this large correctional facility, your role will include: Providing comprehensive financial expertise by:

  • planning, developing and implementing financial procedures and controls, involving control of institutional assets;
  • coordinating the financial and administrative management of the budget, finances and accounting;
  • preparing estimates;
  • approving and forecasting expenditures; and
  • planning and providing financial advice. You will also:
  • monitor and provide supervision to the financial unit;
  • manage the business office and staff;
  • participate on senior management committees; and
  • plan and coordinate administration of institutional support functions (e.g. human resources, purchasing and inventory control)

  • Experience and Qualifications

    What we are looking for: Your demonstrated knowledge will include:

  • knowledge of theories, principles and practices of accounting and financial administration (e.g. budget preparation and administration); and
  • proven knowledge of, and proficiency with, computers and related software. Your proven skills and abilities will include:
  • effective written and oral communication skills to correspond, prepare reports and provide advice and guidance;
  • demonstrated planning, leadership, administrative and supervisory skills; and
  • strong negotiation and marketing skills to deal with suppliers and to ensure the facility effectively utilizes its expenditures and purchases.
