Overview Assist in the development, delivery and promotion of a comprehensive health, safety & wellness program. Provide general administrative support to the other areas of Human Resources.

Responsibilities Prepare, distribute and track completion of monthly Safety Talks. Maintain comprehensive training records. Source & co-ordinate H&S training with outside providers. Coordinate and conduct summer student orientation and H&S training. Develop computer-based training modules using existing training materials. Gather information relative to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices to aid in the development of policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with relevant legislation. Act as a resource to the Joint Health & Safety Committee, including participating in monthly meetings, preparing agendas, taking and distributing minutes, coordinating and tracking monthly H&S inspections, and providing reference materials. Administers WSIB claims, including completion of Form 7, maintaining records, preparing and communicating modified work proposals and acting as a liaison with the WSIB. Conduct incident investigation, prepare reports and make recommendations for corrective actions. Provide guidance and support to managers and staff with health and safety matters. Work with the Wellness Committee and coordinate associated Wellness activities, including promotion of Employee Assistance Program. Liaise with various outside agencies including the Ministry of Labour, Safety Associations, WSIB, Ontario Municipal H&S Reps Association (OMHSRA) and other municipalities. Assist with administration of WSIB/Sick Claims and Early and Safe Return to Work Program. Develop and coordinate the New Employee Orientation program. Coordinate the employee recognition Long Service Award program. Coordinate the summer student program, including advertising, recruiting and orientation. Assist with the day-to-day efficient operation of Human Resources. Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or Human Resources. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation an asset. Minimum of 2 years experience in Occupational Health & Safety. Excellent computer skills using MS Office and the Internet. Strong knowledge of applicable legislation. (Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS,WSIA, Employment Standards). Excellent organization/judgment/initiative/interpersonal skills with ability to work independently with minimal supervision or in a team setting. Valid Class "G" driver's license.
